Disappointed with Disneyland

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
For most of my 72 years going to Disneyland has been on my punch list. Recently I went for the first time. I guess my expectations were too high because I was very disappointed overall. I found many buildings/rides/attractions in need of repair/paint. I found most of the employees lacking enthusiasm. I found the signage to be confusing and lacking. I found the lines to be ridiculously long so the standing became painful. I found the food to be way overpriced and of poor quality. I found the park generally dirty. I did enjoy watching my grandson have fun on Dumbo and the Tea Cups. I am thankful to Guest Services for refunding part of our three day SoCal ticket to a one day ticket. I am so disappointed that I was disappointed and have no desire to return. Dan Bruneau Spring Valley, CA 619-819-****

Kind of sad, story. I last went to Disney Land many years ago and about 10 years later to Disney World.

At that time they were both a marvel of cleanliness and organization.

The buildings were freshly painted and I recall reading a story of Disney Land's impressive maintenance and paint shop.

I wonder what happened, is it managements greed, the current generation of worker, government regulations affecting employee performance, or a combination that has left Disney not such a magical place anymore?

Disneyland - Customer Care Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I've been coming to the Disneyland Resort for years. I have purchased Annual Passes in the past. I understand the process and never expect a handout. My girlfriend and I arrived at the parks on Saturday, 11-19-16, at around 7:30pm. She already had an Annual Pass and I was looking to purchase mine. Our goal was to grab some dinner inside the park and just enjoy the remainder of the night there (Disneyland closed at 12:00am). We arrived and sure enough the Resort was packed (as expected). We waited in line and went through the process to purchase my pass. My girlfriend asked the cast member who assisted me if her Annual Pass was good for entry into the park that evening, and if it wasn't, she was willing to upgrade. The cast member took her AP card, scanned it and told her she was allowed entry into the parks as she handed her card back. We walk over to DCA and sure enough, her AP card is declined. We were instructed to go back to the ticket booth to figure out the issue. When we returned, we saw that the line had grown. We were a little frustrated at this point and did not want to wait in the line we just stood in. We then knocked on the back door of one the ticket booths and asked for assistance to upgrade her AP. We were asked to wait, which we did for approximately 10 minutes until another cast member came out and basically told us to wait in line. I then asked to speak with a manager so I could explain the situation to him. I was directed to manager "Erin" who was standing behind me the entire time. Erin told me that he did not hear what the issue was and asked me to repeat it to him. I kindly explained to him that his cast member gave us wrong information and we did not want to wait in the line we just waited in, ultimately wasting more time. I explained that we simply wanted to pay our entry, go into the park and eat dinner and enjoy what's left of the evening (less than 4 hours now). I also explained that if we had to wait in line, then I would like to refund my AP Pass. Mr. Erin proceeded to explain to me that knocking on the back door of the ticket booth was a security issue and pointed out security officers who were watching us. He then explained that we had to wait in line because it would be unfair to guest who are waiting in line. He also stated that I signed a contract when I purchased my AP and a refund would not be possible, unless he decided to approve it. I explained to Erin that I work in law enforcement as a police officer and our intention of knocking on the back door for help was not intended breach of security and that there are no signs in that area indicating that guests are not allowed in that area. I also told Mr. Erin that the error came from his Cast Member; however we understand that mistakes happen and all we were asking for was to upgrade my girlfriend's pass so we could go into the park. I also told him that I would like to file a formal complaint regarding ge service we have received so far. Me. Erin proceeding to ignore my request to file a complaint and simply told me, "Well, I guess we can open a booth up for you since we've wasted time standing here and you could have been in line the length of this time." I'm still trying to contact the Disneyland Resort to file my complaint but I have not heard anything back yet. Feedback?

Disneyland - Review in Theme Parks category

Tonight I was tackled by a Disney employee, (not a security guard). I was following some people that opened a door towards Main Street and a Disney employee told me to stop, I stopped and said I'm following these people which she proceeded to say you can't go there ,, even though several people were already walking that way, I stopped for her and asked her if I could pass she then Proceeded to put her arm out in front of me and forced clothes lined me across my chest and sending me to the floor and sending my cell phone and water bottle To the ground. I was in shock! I told her she was very violent towards me and she proceeded to tell me that I was very violent toward her, which I responded with, no, I was just walking. She looked scared and confused and I hope she's emotionally okay but I have to say she was very rude and aggressive towards me.... I missed the days when Disney Employee's were all About the people and the Disney experience? It's sad and upsetting and I'm very confused by my experience

Disneyland Took My Money and All I Got Was the Run Around

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This trip to Disneyland was the worst waste of time and money. We will never contribute to the Disney "experience" again.

The lip service of caring about your experience was not what my husband and I experienced. We purchased tickets on-line at the Disney website and received a confirmation email with our e-tickets. We stood in line to get in on our arrival day. We were taken out of line because the tickets were rejected.

We had no choice but to stand in the ticket line and purchase new tickets with no explanation as to why our previously purchased tickets were denied. I was only given the Ticket Mail Order number to call. We then had to stand in our third line. All this just to get in.

Once in, we spent some time in the park. We purchased a two-day pass so the next day we called the Ticket Mail Order to try and find out the status of the cancelled ticket order to confirm we would receive a full refund. The Guest Service person, Jack, could not share any more information than I already knew. No explanation.

This is after being on the phone on hold for an hour and a half. Because of all of the waste of time on our behalf Jack talked to his supervisor, Charlotte, who said she arranged for us to receive two Fast Passes for all of the inconvenience. Not much but it made us feel valued. She gave me a confirmation #M00398**** and asked me to show my ID at the Town Hall within the park.

After standing in yet another line, I met with Guest Service person, Michael. He asked me for the confirmation number and ID. I gave him both and then waited and waited only for him to tell me he could not find any record of fast passes for us. By this time I finally gave up so frustrated at all of the time wasted.

Ridiculous, I know. The run around, the ineffective staff, the impression someone would simply have genuine empathy only to find out they didn't actually care was too much. We did our part and purchased tickets on the Disney website. Disney failed us by not listening to my concerns that I had to purchase tickets twice with no guarantee of a refund, I stood in multiple lines for hours because of Disney staff not being empowered to provide any compensation or resolution.

Even something with no value or cost such as a fast pass for two rides was held so tightly and with such restriction this simple little gesture to compensate us for the hours of wasted time dealing with Disney's errors could not be granted. My husband and I are business owners and decided to take a mini vacation to enjoy the simple world of Disney and it turned out to be such a frustrating experience with ineffective "customer service" people who did nothing but tell us they could do nothing and sending us on a wild goose chase was just too much. Overall it is just our time that was wasted.

However, time is what we were giving to Disney and along with our money and Disney did nothing but take.

Disneyland - Attraction Review

Visited Disneyland California on 12/28/16 My 2nd time this year and I don't understand why toon town closes at 830 at night when the park is open to midnight. Also again I have found the employees to be unhelpful and unfriendly. Nothing like Disney world in Florida . I will be going again to California in the spring for business and i will make sure to bypass this park with my kids! At 119.00 dollars I would expect smiles and courtesy from your employees!

You are severely disconnected with your parks. Disney's California Adventure does not have ToonTown.

Before you complain learn your areas, ToonTown is locatin in Disneyland.

You can also research the park hours and open attractions online before you head there. ToonTown has always closed early due to their firework presentation, that area would be the "fall-out" area of their pyrotechnics.

3 of my family was sitting on Pirates for over half and hour, over an hour before we got off because the Cast Members wanted to compensate everyone for having to evacuate the ride. Very disconcerting climbing out of the boats with small children. They kindly gave us fast pass cards, loaded for 3 rides for our entire party of 5. We went immediately at 8pm to Thunder Mtn, then StarTours at 8:30. Space Mtn at 9 where Hillary told us the card was used up, all rides having been ridden at 8. We said, come on Hillary, that isn't even possible! She refused to let us on! 2 moms, a dad and 2 kids. Treated us like liars and ***. Walked all the way back to pirates for a new pass. She was not a Disney worthy employee!!!

Disneyland - Allows Fraudulent charges to credit card without a check system

My account was fraudulently charged $320.00 twice by this company when I have NEVER been nor plan now in the future to visit Disneyland. The phone number which came up on the bank transaction was answered by a very rude customer service personnel.

What I want to see happen, is that this services company, create an extra security measure that will keep these thieves from being able to charge nilly *** on someone's bank account. I have very few funds to cover monthly bills, and this stood out when I was preparing to pay my mortgage, because if I ever go out of state, it's for a funeral, and not for the exhuberant costs of not only tickets, airline, car rental, gas, food, etc. My bank is filing a fraud affidavit in order to investigate.

If Disney would do something it would create goodwill between victims who may potentially be future visitors, instead of being rude to someone inquiring of the fraudulent charges. Even handling a refund, would be a lot nicer.

Are you seriously this ***? This has nothing to do with Disney.

This is someone else who stole your identity and/or card info and is charging tickets. It's your bank and/or credit card company that needs to deal with this.

Good grief.

Customer service at Disneyland

I visit the park every two to three years. This was the first year I noticed that some employees were not smiling or very welcoming. I felt like smiling wasn't being enforced. For example: we rode Indian Jones and I pointed out to four other ladies that not one of the employees working the ride was smiling. they all seemed pissed off that they were there. The same experience was with many other rides. I didn't feel like it was the happiest place to be at all. Another example was The frozen show, once we were let in there was no direction and the employees started yelling at us for going the wrong way. I felt embarrassed and humiliated in front of a crowd. I did like the show very much but the employees need better training to be pleasant. I do realize that the two days I went were holidays. 11/11 and 11/12. the employees there should not be able to use that as an excuse to be rude or not smile. My experience at Disneyland was not pleasant and I'm extremely disappointed. I purchased a three day park hopper and I'm not sure I will do that again.

Disneyland - Marrerhorn Attraction With Femi Review

When you pay $300 to get into a theme park for one day, you would hope the cast members treat you nicely and allow you to sit on the rides with your loved ones after waiting in line for half an hour. This didn't happen when we went on the Matterhorn. A cast member named Femi didn't allow us to sit together and even laughed and made fun of us when we requested it after he placed us apart. This doesn't seem like the Disney way. I hope Disney hires people that are nicer to their customers and treat them with some respect.

We have had another horrible disneyland experience! Too too crowded long wait times for EVERYTHING! TOO PRICEY FOR THIS HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! You have to be a fool to pay so much for waiting in lines for everything! They lost our money our family and friends will never visit ever again! Disney is in the process of adding additions to both Disneyland and Disney World so the fact that they will only build overseas is completely false.

As far as crowds - did you seriously not know that going this time of year would be crowded?

Maybe a little research next time.

Review in Theme Parks category from Phoenix, Arizona

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My family of 5 was there on June 16th as well and it was by far the worst vacation and experience we've had to date. We were celebrating several milestones together and were looking for some much needed fun by escaping the heat in AZ!

It started with a 2 hour line and detour just to get in the park followed by a 50 minute shuttle wait and a 30 min line to enter. After claiming a locker and filling it we had now lost 4 hour's and the morning was gone.

We brushed off our obvious frustrations as we raced to beat the clock. We all had one day hopper tickets and wanted desperately to have a good day despite the loss of time from the hard and difficult entrance.

We wound up in line at Thunder mountain only to have it break down.We left and went to space mountain where we waited in line 40 minutes to be told that it too was broken down. Can you imagine how this felt?We stayed in line just to be sure but nothing changed.

Next we tried to get fast passes to return to space mountain later on. Two of us had one wait time while the other 3 were given a different wait time. Split up....in the end only 2 of us would see that ride.

2:30 and still no ride to ride. Haunted mansion was a 25 minute wait ( Not my favorite but we were desperate and this wait time was shorter )....this ride broke down 3 times while we were on it.....somehow we stayed positive but it wasn't easy. How fun it is to waste money at Disney? What a day.

We decided to have a meal and hope the rest of the afternoon would play out better. We headed to Disney California and had $ Starbucks and ice cream another 35 minute wait....time is closing in...Headed over to the Big Country rapids and saw a 90 minute wait time. This is annoying!Look at all the season pass holder's......no chance for those that travel in, hotel and suffer the wait times! Pass holder's everywhere. Shall we stand in line and listen to pass holder's talk about going to the park tomorrow for a few hour's while we all feel stressed out watching the clock tick by? No thanks!

We decide to single rider this one after being tipped off by a little girl nearby. This was faster then anything else had been. Nobody got to ride together but at least we watched other families having fun and watching each other get soaked by the rapids. This was fun but still it would've been nice to be together.

The day continued as such. Our favorite ride Soarin over California was closed for this one day only...(unbelievable).....I'm ready to give up. I have to say this day felt cursed.

Tower of terror was extremely fun and so was Splash mountain. Why? We rode together as a family and bought the photo to preserve the memory.

The fireworks time was approaching and we waited to have a nice spot to watch. At least the firework show won't disappoint us riggghhhht? We secured a great view before they announced it may be cancelled due to light wind. My daughter walks off in tears and we all walk off upset....as we are walking back to the lockers the music and the fireworks begin without being announced! Thank you Disney!! Thank you so much for this. The next time I want to be screwed over out of a large chunk of money and my only vacation days from work I will think of you. We will never return and this will be our memory of our last vacation together before our oldest moves out,our second one goes off to college, and Mom and Dad had vacation time together. This was a nightmare and a joke!Too many people and too many ride closures. This will take some time to recover from.

Sincerely yours, a long time Disneyland visitor turned inside out!

You sound impatient. You choose to go on dates when Disney is also dking grad nights and about the time schools get out for the summer in California.

Of course it will 've crowded, it's Disneyland! As to ride failures; I doubt Haunted Mansion broke down three times during your ride. More likely, it slowed and a voice asked you to stay seated in your doom buggy. These are caused by guests in wheelchairs or needing accommodation upon loading and unloading.

All of the bigger coasters are notorious for summer outages- especially during grad nights- because the number of rides per day increase and your safety is key. Usually, it's a busted sensor or simple fix. However, after any sensor triggers, a full, lights on walkthrough must be done to insure the problem is dealt with. Your safety is paramount.

Multiple times, you've stated that you waited, then left the line, and then crossed parks to have a snack. You complain about a 20 minute wait. Practice patience and try looking at the details. Most people are so gung ho about the rides, they miss the magic.

Same goes for fireworks. It's not an arbitrary decision. The fire marshal has to send up a weather balloon that records wind speed, humidity, direction of wind, and a myriad of factors. There are ordinances for the safety of everyone.

In some cases, the weather can be just on the threshold and a decision is made to cancel or postpone. You were told it was cancelled and that turned out to be incorrect. But, you then claim the fireworks started ten minutes later. How far and fast were you able to walk down the inundated, pre-firework, prime shopping area that is Main Street in that short time?

I'd wager the delay was more than ten minutes and especially given that you were likely headed to the lockers... how did you not get to stop and watch the show?

This is this guy's experience. If he says the ride broke down 3 times, it broke down 3 times.

It was a bad Disneyland experience and waiting in lines for food for about half an hour is ridiculous. It's obviously not meant for adults but for your kids to have fun. I've had a similar experience and won't be going back again. What was really annoying was seeing a sign about every 100 ft that told me I am now in the happiest place in the world.

Excuse me Disney, but I can think for myself and am not part of your common sheeple.

You don't need to tell me I am in the happiest place in the world. If I was, I would come to that conclusion and turn around and tell people that every 100 ft that I walk.

Terrible day at Disney park

I seen a little boy about 3 years of age scratching himself all over his body and legs as I was in line for thunder mountain ride. He had lots of red round spots on his face too. I was really consider for my two daughters catching anything that we left the park right away. I was so discussed with the partents for bring him to a place where many small children are at but most of all for the members at Disneyland for letting someone like that enter. I want to complain that minute but that is was best cool down first. Would like my money back or a free pass for me and my two daughters

You can't really believe you have a valid complaint here, do you? Disneyland has absolutely no way of knowing if a child is contagious.

And, rashes are rashes. They're common. Eczema, lupus, mosquitos, an allergic reaction all cause rashes.

If your children are immunologically fragile, perhaps internationally desired theme parks aren't the place for you.

Arnie Lrr

Why is this Disney's fault? I'm mean I hate that place but it's not their fault, it's the kids owner's fault.

All you had to do was move to another place in the park, chances are slim to none your kids would have caught anything, i mean really. People walk around with contagious diseases everywhere, you just don't know it.

Machele Imf

This happens when you have massive amounts of illegals coming into the country.

Not correct, the illegals are usually clean and hard-working. It is the earlier immigrants (100 years ago) that are not.

Disneyland - Fast Pass Review from Coquitlam, British Columbia

I understand the number of complaints Disney must get everday however they do need to step it up a notch in how they respond to guests. I recently sent a complaint email to guest services about an upcoming trip.

First off the cost of the halloween party tickets is completely outrageous at $90. As a 5 day hopper pass holder for my week long visit I get kicked out of the park unless I want to pay another $90....I am seriously the only person who thinks this is outrageous?? Suzn from guest services thought so...because in fact I am actually already getting a discount with my 5 day hopper pass...so much in fact that I am only paying $25.00 for my 5th visit!! Are you kidding me?

I wish she had not called me back. I really just wanted to vent when I sent the email with some far off hope that someone would listen and also feel I was justified in my complaint. This was only the beginning of my issue....I knew that they would be closing early on some nights when I booked the trip ...I also knew of all of the construction and closures...disappointed yes but I was aware. Then they dropped the bomb on me when they announced...less than a month before my trip that splash mountian will be closed for all but 1 day of our trip....#nomoremagic #waltwouldbedisappointed......really Disneyland couldnt you just give back a little??

Its all about what you would lose if you lowered the price just a bit while under construction?

To have guest services justify there prices and explain to me that there is nothing that can be done about 'planned refurbishment' was more like a #toobadforyou message...made me more mad. For the first time in years I am not excited about my trip.

So you're pissed that rides sometimes need maintenance? They can't always know ahead of time when a ride will breakdown and if they gave discounts everytime that happened - that would be ridiculous.

As for the $90...if you think it's too expensive don't pay. A lot of us are happy to pay for the extra and are fine if people like you don't crowd the place up.
